Forest Gin is distilled in small batches (a maximum of 85 bottles at a time) at the brand?s distillery based in a 17th Century stone barn within Macclesfield Forest in the Peak District National Park. This location provides perfect access for the gin?s botanicals that are foraged locally, such as Peak District moss and ferns or wild bilberries and raspberries, as well as a source of Forest Spring water from an ancient spring in the Peak District.

The brand was founded by the husband & wife team Lindsay & Karl Bond, who were passionate that not only should the gin?s ingredients be locally sourced, but the material for the bottle should be too - hence the use of Staffordshire Porcelain. The brand employed Wade Ceramics, who have created bespoke ceramic products since 1810. They made the unique Forest Gin and then applied the artwork from respected Papercut artist Suzy Taylor by hand to each bottle. Taylor is known for hand cutting all of her artwork from a single piece of paper using a scalpel and a magnifying glass.

Forest Distillery Description:
"This is our 2nd filling of a 50 Year old Sherry Cask.
Rich, sweet and smooth ? with a slight addition of soft oak on the palette
We have blended some really interesting Malt whisky here. All malt, all aged 8 years and above. We have then taken that blend and finished it in Oloroso casks (50 year old wood) here at the distillery. This has now been bottled at 47% in 700ml porcelain bottles using our spring water.

The story of this cask is a long one, but the results are outstanding. This cask has held Oloroso sherry for 50 years, and then was used for our first ever release of malt whisky. This second use has drawn out even more complex flavours and we are incredibly proud of the whisky. For this second maturation, we have left the blend to rest in the cask for over 12 months at our distillery

The whisky is a bright gold colour in the glass, purely due to the types of wood this is aged in. We use no added colouring in our whisky.

On the nose, blend 7 has sweet citrus notes, moving onto toffee apple and apricot with fruity dark chocolate notes lingering.
On the palate, it has a burst of sweet spice, complimented by charred oak ? mirroring the sweet citrus nose with a medium dry peppery finish.
The bottles are polished black porcelain with a papercut by the artist Georgia Low glazed with real gold."
